The ceremony, family portraits and party may happen at different times or in different places. Plan each part on its own before choosing your coverage.
Confirm synagogue permissions first
Do not assume photography is permitted during the service. Ask your synagogue or officiant about photography, video, flash, equipment and access restrictions, including rules that apply on Shabbat. If service photography is not permitted, ask whether portraits or a separate rehearsal session can be arranged at an approved time.
Make a family portrait list
Include immediate family, grandparents and the combinations most important to you. Tell us about accessibility needs, relatives who need to leave early and any groupings you would rather avoid. Scheduling portraits before guests arrive can help keep the celebration relaxed, if the venue permits it.
Choose the traditions you want covered
Every family celebrates differently. Let us know whether your plans include a candle lighting, hora, speeches, a montage, special entrance or another meaningful moment. We will work from your actual schedule rather than assume any tradition is part of the event.
Coordinate with the people running the party
Share the planner or DJ’s timeline with the photography team. Ask that someone give the team a heads-up before a speech or surprise, especially if portraits are happening in another room.
