The planning notes
What does photography cost in NYC?
Start with the coverage you need, not just the hourly number. Here are Stolen Heart Media’s starting rates and the details that shape your final quote.
Our starting rates
These are Stolen Heart Media rates, not an estimate of the entire NYC photography market. Availability, travel, additional crew and final deliverables are confirmed in your proposal.
| Service | Starting price | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Wedding photography | $1,200 for four hours | One photographer. Six hours from $1,800; eight from $2,400. |
| Wedding photo + video | $2,350 for six hours | One photographer and one videographer. Eight hours from $3,200. |
| Corporate events | $275 per hour | Coverage schedule, intended image use and delivery needs. |
| Milestone parties | Projects from $200 per hour | Event length, traditions, guest count and locations. |
| Headshots and portraits | Projects from $200 per hour | Number of people, looks, locations and selected final images. |
Why two quotes can look very different
An hourly price does not tell you how many people will be photographing, whether video is included or which final files you will receive. Ask each photographer to separate coverage hours, crew, editing, delivery and any additional costs. Compare the same scope before comparing the totals.
Build your coverage around the moments
For a wedding, work backward from the last moment you want photographed. If getting ready and the end of the reception are both important, a short ceremony package will not cover both. For a corporate event, check whether setup, sponsor details or portraits need to happen before guests arrive.
What to send for an accurate quote
- Your date, venue and city, including any separate ceremony or preparation location.
- The first and last moments you need covered.
- Approximate guest count or number of portrait subjects.
- Photography, videography or both, and any deadline for selected images.
- Intended use, such as a personal gallery, company website, press or advertising.
A starting rate is not a reservation or an all-inclusive promise. Ask us to confirm the total, payment schedule, travel and any extra coverage in writing before booking.
